I’m really excited to be starting a new weekly segment here today!
It’s called Words, and will involve me challenging myself creatively every week by taking a saying or song lyrics, and drawing them in a creative way. The idea will be to try out new mediums (like watercolour – coming up next week!) and… I’m not allowed to touch the computer. This will be a big challenge for me! Even just now when I uploaded my first ‘words’ attempt, I had to consciously stop myself from fixing my mistakes!
The whole ‘words’ idea came from looking at this book I saw online the other day… It’s called Quoteskine by Lee Crutchley, and contains a heap of drawings he’s done of lyrics and sayings.. so I thought it would be a great chance for me to test myself every week and give it a go myself.. and so far, I’m loving it!
Please be kind.. this is my first attempt! I was a bit nervous being my first one and all, but I’m hoping I will get better with time :)
These words are from the song Brother Sparrow by Agnes Obel. After I’d done the sketch in pencil I had every intention of painting over it, but then couldn’t bring myself to potentially ruin it, so left it as it was! haha
Yep, it’s hard to miss it, but Valentines Day is nearly upon us again! Even though we don’t really celebrate it, I still love seeing all the thoughtful gestures that come out of it!
Donaville from the gorgeous blog Discover Paper has put together a beautiful, and very extensive Valentines Day Guide to giving that’s definitely worth taking a look at. It’s got everything from cards, to gifts, to wrapping and printables.. I’ve never seen so much love in one place :)
Find the full Guide over on Discover Paper :)
Before I sign off for the weekend, I just wanted to send out an apology for the blog/shop crash yesterday. We’re still not entirely sure what caused it (although my lovely hubby said it was due to a solar flare, and possibly unicorns… excellent, so helpful), but we’re back online now!
I hope you all have a wonderful weekend, see you on Monday :)
There’s just something about Pin Up Girls that I find completely fascinating and fabulous.. and that was before I came across these before-and-afters on Miss Mabiel! Turns out these symbols of fabulous feminine perfection and actually just normal people :)
I’ve left out some of the more ‘revealing’ ones, but you can see a lot more over here.
What I wouldn’t give to be sitting at the gorgeous desk right now! It’s so clean and bright.. like taking a breath of fresh air. Isn’t the white/brown/black/mint combination so lovely? I feel calmer just looking at it :)
And here’s a few things I found that could be incorporated into your own look!
Oh that bunny lamp.. i die.
