DIY pom poms

September 6, 2011 | DIY

I remember making pom poms when I was a kid with two round pieces of cardboard, and had forgotten how easy it was! I actually found this plastic pom pom maker at my local craft store for a couple of dollars, and it seemed to work pretty well – although I think I should have done a few more rounds with the wool to get a fuller looking pom pom… mine all look a bit straggly!

The idea will be to string them onto a long piece of wool and hang them in my new office!

Will keep you posted.

  1. Looks easier with the plastic circles! Nice picture!

  2. I love them!!
    So cute (:

    Thanks for sharing!
    Merry christmas to all!

  3. When I first learned how to make pom poms I wrapped the yarn around two fingers, then tied a piece around the yarn between my fingers and trimmed. These make it so much easier!

Thanks for this idea! I am going to make some for my granddaughters and put on a sweater for each of them as well as a string of them to decorate their rooms ;)

  5. I haven’t tried making poms with yarn yet. I’m thinking a fun garland with these would be fun!
