The Honeymoon Part 3

June 11, 2012 | Personal, Wedding

Phew, Monday again already! Did you all have a nice weekend? :)

I’ve got the last installment of the Honeymoon series today.. I hope you haven’t minded me sharing all these photos with you! It’s been really nice (and a little bit sad!) looking back through all our snaps again.. I’d love to go back!

So far you’ve seen the accommodation in Part 1, the island in Part 2, and today.. I’ll share a bit about what we did!

First up – snorkeling! I already admitted that I am a big chicken when it comes to snorkeling, but I’m afraid it doesn’t end there. I’m pretty much just scared of anything to do with the ocean. Lets just go ahead and say I’m an Oceanaphobe. Diving, snorkeling, swimming..  hmm.

Despite all that though, Dave managed to convince me that ‘seeing as we are in the Maldives, you really should just give it a go’. So we signed ourselves up for a snorkel trip out to one of the reefs with a group of other snorkel buddies. So now I can say I’ve snorkeled and survived! If I’m honest – It was pretty amazing.. the water was clear, the fish were bright.. and our guide-lady (bless her heart) didn’t mention the fact that I was being weird and sticking to her like glue.

Dave on the other hand was a fish in a previous life, I’m sure of it. After he’d experienced snorkeling, he decided to go diving and ended up getting his stage 1 certificate.

Meanwhile, I read a book in the hammok on the beach, sipping an iced coffee :)

We also took a private trip out to a litte sandbank in the middle of nowhere, which you might remember from this post. We had the island to ourselves with a picnic breakfast, drinks, chairs and an umbrella. It was pretty much the highlight of our trip :) It was all organised through the resort, so all we had to do was turn up. They had lots of fully-organised trips you could book, and if they were anything like our sand island getaway, they’d be brilliant!

And so marks the end of our honeymoon.. what an incredible trip. Sigh.

If you missed the first two posts I did on the Maldives, you can find Part 1 and Part 2 here.

  1. so fun! I’m so jealous of your beautiful honeymoon! congrats!

  2. So why would an oceanophobe go on a paradise beach adventure?!!! Looks like you’ve managed to conquer your fear though ;)

You know, after looking at your pics, I’ve started planning a beach vacation for my husband and me for next year. Aruba? Clearwater, FL? We’ll see……Can. Not. Wait!!!!! :)

Haha good question! I think I decided it was a place I wanted to experience regardless of it’s affinity with the ocean.. I really enjoyed just chilling on the beach, or going out in one of their boats (we saw dolphins!).. it was still a great place to be :)
